Curious About Renting a Scooter? Everything You Need to Know.
Embarking on a scooter adventure is exciting, but we know you might have a few questions before you hit the road. Whether you are wondering about licensing requirements, safety gear, or the best scenic routes in the city, we have gathered all the essential details right here. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and fully prepared from the moment you twist the throttle.
Do I need a special license to rent a scooter?
In Oregon, you can operate a scooter (up to 50cc) with a standard valid Driver’s License. You do not need a specific motorcycle endorsement unless the vehicle exceeds 50cc or a speed of 30 mph. Please ensure you have your physical license with you at the time of pickup.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Yes. While Oregon law allows individuals 16 and older to ride, most of our rentals require the primary renter to be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes. A valid government-issued ID is required for verification.
Are helmets provided, and are they mandatory?
Safety first! Per Oregon law, all scooter riders are required to wear a helmet. We provide a sanitized, high-quality helmet with every rental at no extra cost. If you prefer to bring your own DOT-approved helmet, you are welcome to do so.
Can I ride on the sidewalk or in parks?
No. In Portland, it is strictly prohibited to ride motorized scooters on sidewalks or within public parks (unless on designated park roads). You should use bike lanes whenever possible and follow all standard traffic laws as if you were driving a car.
What is the fuel policy?
We operate on a “Full-to-Full” policy. Your scooter will be provided with a full tank of gas, and we ask that you return it the same way. If you’re unable to refuel, we can handle it for you for a small service fee plus the cost of fuel.
What happens if I have a flat tire or mechanical issue?
We take great pride in our well-maintained fleet, but if you encounter any issues, we offer Roadside Assistance. Just give us a call, and we will either help you resolve the issue on the spot or provide a replacement vehicle so you can continue your journey.
